St Albans District (Harpenden, St Albans, Villages)

St Albans District loves a street party!

St Albans District was the street party capital of Hertfordshire in 2019 and we have no doubt it will be again in 2022!  During the Queen’s Jubilee long weekend in June over 150 streets closed to traffic in order to celebrate together with a traditional street party. See our photo gallery below!

Nevertheless, it’s not too late to hold a street party. You can choose any date that suits you – you simply need to apply to Herts County Council at minimum 6 weeks before your party after having consulted your neighbours by letter.

If you live in the district of St Albans (which includes St Albans, Harpenden, Redbourn, Wheathampstead, London Colney and Sandridge) and want to organise a street party but don’t know where to start then get in touch with the local contact, Nicola Wyeth, using the contact form below.

Our Street Party St Albans District also has Road Closed signs that we loan out on a first come first served basis for free. We are here to support you fill in the forms and give you ideas, so contact Nicola today!

For the fun stuff, don’t miss our blog about ideas of things to do at your street party. You can also check out the The Big Lunch and Great Get Together websites for further inspiration.

St Albans District has a Playing Out scheme!

Under street party legislation in Herts, you may only close your road once a year. However, in St Albans District, the local Playing Out scheme allows you to apply up to 8 more times a year for short closures for the purpose of play and community building.
